Creating a Market
For any business, creating a market is a major key for your success. If you do not have people interested in you then you are not going to sell your stuff and your business will crash.
It is very important that you get your name out, provide people with something that will pique their interest and make them want to come to you. If you want customers, you have to make your customers want you.
For example, say you have invented a new, revolutionary technology that will be a hit. This is a technology that has been waiting to be developed. It is something that people will flock to because they want it so bad.
On one hand, you could allow this technology to be used by many different companies so they could put it in their products. On the other hand you could keep it to yourself and use it only in your own products.
The first will bring in money from all these different places and you would profit much more because no matter which brand they prefer to buy, your technology will be being used by all the different brands as well as your own.
On the other hand, if you keep it all to yourself and try to keep it secret then you may not have as many buyers. Even though you may have a great thing going, you may grow faster by creating a market for your technology rather than trying to create an amazing technology to place in the market.
Like this example, you will get much more business and a much larger market if you share yourselves with other businesses rather than trying to keep to your secret self. Even if you do have something wonderful.
If people do not know your name, if it is not familiar to them, they will probably not be as interested in what you have to offer as they would be if you were a major company offering the same thing.
They are more likely to invest in companies they know and already trust. If is important for you to get your name out, get yourself heard and let your name become well-used, then people will start to be interested in what you have and your market will grow.
If you offer great stuff and you have a recognizable name, your business will boom. It is the same as if a stranger were to offer you a new, top-of-the-line, car. If it were a complete stranger you would not know whether or not to trust them.
Some people might take their chances and take the car. Some people would not take the car because they would not know if he was serious or not. If he is just offering you a car there has to be some reason or motive behind it right? So what is his motive?
That is why these people would not take the car. They perceive him as false and they do not trust that the car will not have problems. They would rather be safe than sorry in the long run.
On the other hand, if you knew this man, knew that he was very rich, knew that he was a good man and knew that he frequently gave cars to people to help them out, you would probably not hesitate to take the car. Unless of course you were uncomfortable excepting such a nice gift.
This is like you and your business. If people do not know you they will not trust you, no matter what you are offering. Some may take their chances, try you out and realize that you really do offer something great.
But some will not be so brave and will hold back. You have to get your name out to these people so that they will begin to recognize it and trust it. Once you gain their trust your market will boom and your business will be a success.
