Don't burn your bridges

There are people that you are not going to like and there are companies that you won't want to do business with. Instead of burning your bridges with these people and companies, just quietly do your business elsewhere. It does you no good to make enemies when you are in the field of public relation.

Good ways to burn your bridges include the obvious name calling confrontations. You never know what might happen and someday that you were wrong. If you already called the person an "unscrupulous sneak" it will be too late to take it back. Another good way to burn your bridges is by talking too much. If you have problems with somebody, you don't need to tell anybody else about it. Keep the details to yourself because details have a way of snowballing as they are passed around during office gossip. You really have to watch what you say all of the time when you are in public relations.
