Event Calendar
An event calendar is a great way to publicize an even through out your company's employees, or participants in your organization. An event calendar differs from an editorial calendar in that it's main purpose and focus is to name different dates for a specified event, rather than events included with, trainings, company announcements, product release dates, and so forth.
An event calendar can be very useful for use in companies as well as, church organizations, schools, and social groups. Each of the these groups yearly holds events for social or business purposes and it is a great idea to make them known well in advance by calendaring those events.
An event calendar will most likely need to consist of all seven days of the week. Where as an editorial calendar can be shortened to add more room for events that consist mostly only Monday through Friday; an event calendar needs to include all seven days. No matter your organization many evens are going to be held on a weekend.
An event calendar also needs to have a title. A title that will work for most organizations is simply, "Calendar of Events,". Thus you are letting the people know exactly what they will find, and what they need to look for on the calendar you will create.
Your event calendar needs to not only have the date of the event but the time, the title of the event, and who is expected to attend. For example, a good way of letting parents know of an upcoming field trip if you are a school teacher, is simply to add on to your monthly calendar the date of the field trip, the time, and where you will be going. If you don't yet have parents who are accompanying on the field trip than it is also a good idea to add into your calendar a note, such as, "Parents needed. Please call if you can come." Thus the parents know when, where, and what, and they are not left questioning if they will be needed or not.
For a church organization an event calendar may include birthdays of members. Thus everyone who receives a calendar, or belongs to that organization, is made aware of a day to call or go visit other members of the organization.
A social event calendar may be important because it may be the only way you get attendees. For example, if you are sponsoring a dance, and you are targeting students, passing out a class even calendar may be the only way they know of the dance and whether or not they should attend. This will also give them time in advance to prepare, send out their own invitations, decide what to where, etc.
If you are a company creating an event calendar, and your events are more social for bringing the company together purposes, it will be very important to add details into the date of the event and send out the calendar far in advance. Events that are not company and business related, are rarely mandatory, and thus people are going to have to know far enough in advance that they don't have a conflicting schedule.
The even calendar for the company is also a good way to get publicity for the event, be if a company party, a fund raiser, or a thank you for a job well done. The calendar may be the only way people know whether they are allowed to bring families, when the event is, and if it is after and outside of work, when they are expected to be there.
An event calendar is a great way for any organization to publicize upcoming events.
