Product Photography
It is important when trying to advertise and sell a product to get the right picture of the product to use in the advertisement. A simple photograph can sell a product all by itself. A photograph is also a great way of enhancing your products ability to sale.
A professional photographer is usually knowledgeable on the taking pictures of inanimate objects and the specific lighting and set up that is needed, however there are times when a professional photographer cannot be afforded during these times it is important for any person involved in the sale of the product be able to take the picture.
The picture taking process can be quite simple, have an object, a setting, and a camera, place the object, point the camera, and click the button. But then again, if a person is looking to make their product attractive to everyone who sees the picture, there are some things to take into consideration before pointing, setting, and clicking.
Most people know that there are certain lightings and positions in which that person can look better or worse. For instance to much light can make it so that there is no shadow, the less shadows the more a person is going to look like one shape, and most often that shape is not flattering. There are also positions that can make a person look better or worse. For example, in most weight loss adds the before and after shot are taken in different positions. The before shot is generally taken with a person standing face front, hands to their side, feet shoulder width apart, face down cast. In the after picture that same person usually has hands at the hips, shoulders slightly turned, one leg possibly positioned up slightly, and a bright grin on there face. The different positions can greatly add to the weight loss by creating shadows in certain areas and hiding certain body features. Most people may not think so but objects can likewise be greatly affected but the lighting and the positioning.
The person taking the picture will not want too much lighting but rather they want to have soft light, meaning not direct light. Direct light can cause too many dark shadows. The person taking the photo will not want to use a flash. Flashes tend to make a photo fuzzier and less colorful.
Positioning is important because certain positions can actually make the object look larger or smaller, or even out of proportion. Just as crossing legs, turning to the side, or taking a picture from above or below a person can make the person look larger or smaller, so can the positioning of the object.
If a person however does have the funds to higher a photographer than these are tips they will not have to think about. Rather they will want to know how to distribute their product photograph.
There are many ways of distribution, press release (or news releases), newswires, or even through agencies. An Agency is typically going to be able to get a persons product photograph to a much larger audience. An agency is going to be able to contact not only newspapers, but magazines, news broadcasting stations, internet sources, and they will most likely have local advertising contacts as well. The benefit of hiring an agency, or a middle man, is that they will have had much experiences and know the best and fastest ways to get a persons product photographed.
There are different options when trying to photograph your product. The best option to choose is first the most affordable, and second you are going to want to choose the option that is going to put your product in the best light while presenting it to the widest audience.
