PRSSA... cont'd

The PRSSA has lots of different publications and ways to communicate with the different members of the PRSSA. These communications tell you about new opportunities that are available for leadership, different internships, ideas for finding jobs, tips for understanding the public relations industry, and more. Here's a list of different publications and communications produced by the PRSSA.

1. FORUM. FORUM is the national newspaper of the PRSSA. It's published triannually. In FORUM you'll find lots of great information about how to make it in the public relations industry. There's news about the PRSSA, of course, but in FORUM you'll also find ideas on how to write good resumes, how to produce great publicity, how to win at the job hunt game, and how to make it as a public relations professional.

2. National Mailings. Each PRSSA chapter gets a packet every two months. This packet has tons of great things in it, like a newsletter for the president of each chapter, and lots of information about different awards, internships, competitions, and valuable scholarships that you can win as a member of the PRSSA.

3. The PRSSA web site. This is the best place to find up-to-date information about the PRSSA. Don't wait for that national mailing to start searching for scholarships. They're immediately posted on the website, and you can start working on applications right away. The PRSSA web site is the most valuable source of information for public relations students.

4. PRSSA-Talk. This is the PRSSA mailing list and lets you communicate with other members of the PRSSA about different public relations ideas and different programs.

Other advantages to joining the PRSSA are scholarships that are worth up to $20,000, different internships, awards, citations, travel opportunities, and job hunting opportunities.

If you're looking to hire a great public relations specialist, the PRSSA might be a good place to start. Contact the PRSSA on both a national and a local level to find out about speaking to the local chapter, or perhaps having a booth at the university job fair. Consider recruiting through the PRSSA, since you're guaranteed to have a great publicist who's full of determination and energy.
