Publicity Tips of Builders and Remodelers

One of the best sources of publicity for a builder or a remodeling company that is being widely overlooked by the industry is to have a website on the internet. There are lots of surveys out there that prove this statement to be true. There is a heavy consumer demand for web-based information on new homes and remodeling information but most builders have not taken advantage of this opportunity. Here are a few statistics that may be of interest to you.

42% of consumers nationwide who purchased a home and that had access to the internet used the net as a source of information

29% of the nation's home builders have web sites.

26% of home owners who had home improvements done researched the job on the net.

28% of the nation's contractors have web sites

17% of the nations sub contractors have web sites

77 percent of builders, remodelers, and subcontractors don't have web sites and they do not have plans to launch a web site.

Home buyers in the West are more than twice as likely to use the internet to find a home or related information. More than 60% of new home buyers in three western states used the internet for housing information which is a 29% increase over the previous year.

Consumers tend to think that if a builder does not have a web site that they may not be up to date on all of the advances in the building field. More consumers still use newspaper real estate listings, home center stores, local builders and contractor and real estate agencies for housing information, but those who use the internet to access housing information do it on line because they believe that the best contractors are on line and the net is the easiest, quickest, and most convenient way to buy materials and contact builders, contractors, and other related professionals.

The larger regional and national builders have the on line access while the smaller builders, contractors and remodelers don't. Consumers that use the internet are more educated and more ready to buy, so the builders that are not on line are missing that vital part of the market. It is not just homes and home improvement products that consumers are looking to purchase but also all of the related goods and services.

So if you are a builder or a remodeler and are looking for ways to increase your business one of the best ways to do it is with a web site. With this on line information potential buyers will be able to know what you are all about. The web site will give them the much needed information about you and your company. This is your way to sell yourself and your product to those who might not otherwise even know that you exist. A web site will help you get a jump on your competition. Being well established on the web will also get you ahead of the companies that will soon realize the importance of having a presence on the web.

If the reason that your company doesn't have a web site is because you are inexperienced with using a computer or you don't understand the net and what it can do for your business so you avoid it, stop doing that! There are companies out there who specialize in building websites specifically for the building and remodeling industries. The money that you might spend on having someone create a web site for you will pay for itself in the increased business that it brings in. So get out there and jump into the age of this technology and see how your business will grow with this new found publicity.
